Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a developmental condition marked by persistent patterns of inattention, hyperactivity, and / or impulsivity as well as emotional dysregulation. Inattention may involve difficulty focusing, staying on task, or maintaining organization. Hyperactivity can manifest as excessive movement, restlessness, or frequent talking, even in inappropriate situations. Impulsivity may include interrupting others, difficulty waiting one’s turn, intruding on conversations, or engaging in other impulsive actions such as taking things without permission. Emotional dysregulation (difficulty managing and controlling emotions) can occur in ADHD, where certain triggers spark intense, disproportionate reactions that may escalate into a full meltdown.
